Average actual fixed-line residential broadband speed has increased by over 25 per cent over the past year, according to Ofcom research. Speeds have increased from 4.1Mbit/s to 5.2Mbit/s in 2010.

Cecilia Malmström, the European Commissioner for Home Affairs, yesterday gave a speech in support of her proposed Directive on child sexual abuse, and especially the provisions to require Internet access providers to block access to web sites containing images of child abuse.
The speech makes extensive use of statistics from the Internet Watch Foundation.
