Server Hosting

Co-Location & dedicated servers

We provide a secure environment in our London and European hosting facilities for many of our clients, and are able to host your own hardware (co-location) or hardware rented from us(dedicated servers).  All our London machines are managed by us remotely and run either FreeBSD or Solaris on enterprise servers from IBM or Sun Microsystems.  Our European offering provides lower cost servers in remote locations which we use when our service level agreements aren't very strict, or when customers simply don't have the budget to do it properly.

London Datacentre

Our own services run across our premier London NOC (Network Operation Centre) hosted in Redbus' Sovereign House and Meridian Gate facilities.  The cost of hosting in London has risen recently, due in large part to the rising power prices.  While many of our competitors are moving out of town to new datacentres in the suburbs, we're staying put to provide a highly responsive service in the event of an outage, and to allow quick physical access to our key infrastructure.

Monthly co-location hosting costs:

Amsterdam / Nürnberg Datacentre

For the cost concious customer who isn't worried about their servers being far away, we offer managed servers in our Amsterdam or Nurnberg facilities.  These servers are built from desktop or low-grade server components to keep costs low, so performance of these machines can't really be compared to the real servers we use in London.  However, we host a large number of non-critical sites and services on these machines and for the most part they're pretty good.  The hardware is provided and maintained by our european providers, who we work closely with in the event of hardware or network related issues.  We're able to provide multiple machines as fault tolerant clusters to minimise the impact of a critical server failure.

Sun Resellers
2008-01-07

Darq recently became a  Sun Reseller as part of our shift towards being more energy efficient. Sun equipment tends to use less power, so we're now able to sell Sun servers, storage and Sun Ray desktop replacements. We're investing heavily in Sun Ray Thin Clients, which use just 4.6 watts (compared to 90 watts for a Mac Mini). Give us a call to see a demo at our Old Street office
